VMCF Print Control Information     Updated August 8, 2003

VMCF is used to monitor and control Fame and Sis report printers. This is available through the WNYRIC menu or a standard web browser (Netscape 6 and above or Internet Explorer 5.x and above). The printers you are able to monitor are determined by your security authorization. If you are not currently a user, ask your security administrator to request the VMCF application be added to your selections.

Print Control Functions

• View the status of your printer and the number of reports waiting to print, including the form name
• Control printers using Start, Stop, or Cancel commands. Temporarily alter the printing selection criteria, perhaps to change the Form or Class that will print.
• Delete reports instead of printing, Release a job from the Held Queue, or change the class, form or
• View the output from the report on your terminal, use Copy/Paste or Print options to save or print

VMCF Web Access additional features

• Local Print
• Save to File option to download the report to your PC.
• Display of output adjusts for carriage control characters in first column.

VMCF Web Access Information and Hints

• This application will issue a Security Alert for the Erie 1 Boces certificate being used to encr userid, password and report data. You must reply OK, Yes, Grant or Continue to whatever messages your browser displays to successfully continue. If you reply to Grant Forever or Install this cer you will not have to reply to these messages again.
• The black toolbar on the top of the screen is used for basic functions, such as Main Menu, Preferences, Logoff and Help.
• The blue toolbar on the second line of the screen is used for options relating to the current display.
• Use Return on the blue toolbar instead of your browsers Back button
• Use an * in the Printer field on the Masking option of the VPS Printer List to display all the security authorization allows you to view.
• To view the output of your job, go to the output or held queue list and click on the desired underlined Jobname.
• The Print Plug-in must be installed to use the Save to File or Local Print functions.

  To Install Print Plug-in
  • Login the the VMCF Web Access Application
  • Click on Preferences in the top toolbar.
  • Click on Install Print Plug-in (bottom left)
  • A File Download window will be displayed. If using Internet Explorer click on Open. If using Netscape you may only Save.
    If you choose Save, remember the File name, then find and execute the file and continue with the following steps. You may then delete this temporary file.
  • On the LRS Web Access Print Plug-in Welcome window click Next.
  • On the LRS Web Access Print Plug-in License Agreement window click Next.
  • On the LRS Web Access Print Plug-in Installation Folder window click Finish. You may change this folder name if the default name is not acceptable.
    You may have to click Yes to Create the Folder.
  • Select the browser you are using to install the plug-in and click OK
  • A window will display showing the installation is finished, click Ok
  • Logoff VMCF Web Access and close all browser windows.
  • Restart your browser.

Discontinued VMCF for Windows application

• The VMCF for Windows version of this software will no longer be operational on Tuesday, July 29, 2003.
• This software may be uninstalled from your PC if desired, click on Start, Programs, VMCF Client for Windows, Uninstall VMCF and follow the prompts.
